May 16. In 1Q 2008 Gazprom ramped up gas exports to West Europe 33% y-o-y to 35.4 bcm and 66% to East Europe to 12.2 bcm, according to the gas producer's management records. By contrast, gas supplies to Swiss-based trader RosUkrEnergo which sells gas to Ukraine and Central Europe dropped 20%. The company also reported a significant rise in its share on the Russian market. In 1Q 2008 it rose to 85.75% vs. 83.21%, 84% and 83.6% in 2007, 2006 and 2005, respectively. The share of independent gas producers in Russian balance was as low in early 2008 as it was back in 2004 (14.6%) and 2004 (14.2%).
