In this research note we provide a method for qualitative assessment and ranking of Russian industries in terms of their investment appeal. The method proposed primarily reveals primary aggregated factors of the industries' investment appeal (production potential, profitability, investment activity and information transparency). Since these factors in turn depend on several economic indicators and cannot be directly assessed, they are divided into specific economic indicators, valued and ranked according to a single rating system. These estimates are used in building the weighted average valuation of aggregated factors and the final consolidated investment appeal rating of Russian economic sectors. The results summed up in this report can be used to establish sector priorities when forming investment portfolios.
